SCADstyle came to an end on Thursday, with the iconic Norma Kamali leaving a lasting impression on us all at SCAD. Known for her innovative "sleeping bag coat" and stylish swimwear, she told us the stories of how she became the trailblazer she is known as today.
She shared how she started her career working for an airlines, traveling to London multiple times a month. This is where she was inspired to further pursue her love of fashion, after dropping out of the Fashion Institute of Technology for feeling like she didn't belong. I know I speak for many when I say we are so glad she decided to give it another chance!
She shared her love of health and wellness and stressed the importance of taking care of yourself from a young age. She looks amazing for her age, so I don't doubt her tips for a second! I even got the opportunity to meet Norma individually and hear her give advice to students one on one. Overall, she was inspiring to us all in and out of the fashion industry.
For my fashion to the event, I wore a Byron Lars high waisted hobble skirt paired with a simple black crop top and block heel. I got this fabulous skirt from Savannah Bleu boutique, where Jerri, the owner, has a wide selection of Byron Lars collection pieces! You can shop my skirt at the boutique link above or on Byron Lars website here.
