Bonjour!! Next stop on the list of adventures abroad was our all campus excursion to Paris for a week, and it was FABULOUS. I'm going to take you on a day by day journey of everything I did, and I have a SURPRISE at the bottom... My first VLOG! Yay - let's get started...
Sunday was a free day from our university's planned excursions, so we had the entire day to ourselves. We arrived around lunch time and headed to Champs Elysees for shopping, lunch, and a view of the Arc de Triomphe. We also had the best French onion soup at L'Alsace - highly recommend!
Monday we went to The Louvre, which is a MUST in Paris! It is so incredible the way art has been preserved and treasured after all this time. and there is something in there for every artistic taste. After The Louvre, we went to Laduree for a traditional, French brunch. It's one of my favorite restaurants ever! Watch the vlog at the bottom for a closer look at our brunch!
On Tuesday, we visited the Musee D'Orsay where I saw works from my favorite artist of all time - Monet! A life changing experience nonetheless to see impressionist art in person. We ended the day with a visit to Maison Victor Hugo and shopping in Le Marais. I also got to see the Eiffel Tower at night for the first time, which was so enchanting. I could sit and stare at it for hours! Again, more of this can be seen in our vlog linked below!
Wednesday was a day full of fashion! We started the morning at Galaries Lafayette, which had an incredible view of the tower from their top floor. The shopping complex is filled with shops for every budget, from Chanel and YSL to Zara and Mango - love it!
From here, we went to Les Arts Decoratifs to see the Christian Dior exhibition where we walked through the history of the company and how Dior is still just as relevant today. This exhibition was breathtaking and brought tears to many of the fashion students eyes, including mine. I loved seeing how each creative director has been able to maintain the brand image, while adding their own touch.
Then just when we thought our day could not get any better, we were able to go to the showroom and atelier of haute couture designer Jean Paul Gaultier!! We had a private tour of the building, from the press room to the showroom and runway. Only 200 women worldwide can afford haute couture so to see where these handmade garments are made is a once in a lifetime chance! I am so grateful for the opportunities my school provides me with!
Thursday was our last day in Paris, so we had a healthy brunch at Loulou's in the Latin Quarter. Avocado toast, detox water, and lattes were our favorite picks from here! We had to be at the train station in the afternoon, so that was the end of our Parisian journey. It was filled with experiences of a lifetime that I will cherish forever!
