Mong Kok Market: Part One

September 19, 2018

Hi from Asia! As many of you know, I’ve decided to study abroad in Hong Kong this fall as I begin to wrap up my senior year at SCAD. Wait, did I just say senior year? Where has the time gone?? It seems like just yesterday I was starting this blog as a hobby to have in high school... Oy vey!

I got to Hong Kong about two weeks ago, and I must say it’s quite the concrete jungle. Pink and blue buildings fill the metropolitan area, dim sum and pho noodles are in abundance, and local markets are the go to for a great deal.

The first thing my roommate, Lian of Freehanded Nonsense, and I did was check out the “Ladies Market”. We found ourselves obsessed with the bustling booths that were grouped together on one main street in Mong Kok. Accessories, clothing, genuine silk, technology, you name it! They had everything. Literally. And the best part? You bargain with the vendors and essentially pay what you want, within reason, for your finds!

So, we shopped… and we shopped some more… and then some more! I was able to find two outfits that I adored with a hand woven wooden bag to match.

Scroll down to see the beautiful, red gingham dress that only cost me $10 USD… I KNOW *Monica Geller voice*
